Job Description:
As a Quality Engineer, you understand how important it is for products to be designed and manufactured efficiently and reliably to get them in the hands of excited customers. You have a passion for plants and top-quality food and are an ambassador for Babylon and our mission. Further, having high attention to detail and a process / data-driven mindset are among your strongest skills.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a quality management system.
- Establish a clear vision and set expectations for the quality requirements and processes
- Develop, manage, and support the product engineering and manufacturing organization
- Monitor team/individual performance to quality objectives; mentor as necessary
- Prioritize quality improvement initiatives to support day-to-day production and alignment to the overall company vision and goals
- Ensure quality issues are resolved in a professional, timely, and thorough manner
- Assist in developing and following processes that support product quality, operational efficiency, and innovative flexibility
- Work closely with the engineering team to take new concepts through the product design phase and transition them to manufacturing. Support existing products with yield, cost, and performance improvements
- Shape the organization’s structure, systems, and processes to achieve continuous improvement and cost reduction while preserving the responsive, entrepreneurial atmosphere necessary to capitalize on market opportunities
- Drive productivity and quality improvements with cross-functional teams consisting of engineering, quality, manufacturing, and maintenance personnel. Use lean tools to drive process improvements
- Create a working environment that puts a priority on safety
- Other reporting and duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering; prefer Mechanical or Electrical
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in operational and quality roles
- Team management and / or leadership required
- ISO9001 and ISO14001 experience desired
- Quality tools knowledge and proficiency (ie: A3, DMAIC, 8D, PDCA, RCCA, DOE, etc)
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent projects
- Experienced in implementing best practice engineering methods (stage gate design, configuration management, change control process, etc)
- Able to provide technical guidance to engineering teams and executive team
- Exceptional leadership and strong project management skills
- Organized and detail oriented
- Strong proficiency in Google Office suite and project management tools
- Able to work in a changing environment; must be able to promote suggestions to assist in the creation of an efficient workflow
- Written and oral communication proficiency
- Ensure the safety of yourself and others by following Health and Safety legislation and guidelines
- Fluent in English
- Manufacturing / assembly experience is required
